ACCESS & QUALITY OF PRIMARY EDUCATION

Vision

To create access and improve quality of primary education by supporting organizations, influencing government schools through multidimensional approaches for integrating values of Diversity, Democracy, and Citizenship.

Strategies

  • Strengthening and supporting local NGO’s in conceptualizing, designing and operationalzing interventions for creating access to education & improving quality of education.
  • Building capacities and training local young boys and girls to engage on the issue of Primary education.
  • Making “technology available to the marginalized communities for good quality education
  • Developing content and pedagogy for integrating values of diversity, democracy and citizenship in curriculum.
  • Supporting and complementing the State to improve quality of education.

Interventions

  • To create access to education
    • By creating models wherein existing spaces are expanded and made inclusive
  • To do research and advocacy work on emerging issues.
    • Research and advocacy on the issue of status of primary education in Muslim community. Udaan is planning to take up a small study on status of access of education in Muslim community of Kutch.
  • Building network of organization in Gujarat for Peace promotion and conflict transformation. The network would engage in developing curriculum on peace promotion and conflict transformation that can be implemented in residential camps with children.
  • Documentation of the curriculum and pedagogy developed through Udaan experiences.
  • Intervene on the issue of education of the Internally Displaced families.
  • Hold state level consultations and seminars on the emerging issues in education.
  • Organize annual learning events and trainings, which are open to all grass root organization.
  • Videoshala is focused on producing stimulating, curriculum-based educational videos for children. These are ‘community videos’ – they are conceived, written, shot and produced by community members themselves, who are trained as full-time Community Producers and supported in organizing themselves as a functioning video unit. The production team works on few concepts of environment, Maths and Language for creating content in the form of video kit.
